The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Qatar Tribune reported that Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs HE Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi met with China’s Special Envoy for Afghanistan, Yue Xiaoyong, in Doha on Thursday.
During the meeting, both sides discussed the latest
developments in Afghanistan and explored ways to strengthen joint international
efforts to promote security and stability in the country.
Al Khulaifi reaffirmed Qatar’s full support for initiatives
aimed at resolving conflicts through peaceful means and emphasized the
importance of enhancing peace and stability at both regional and international
levels.
Qatar has played an active diplomatic role in Afghan affairs
over the past decade, including hosting key negotiations between the Taliban
and the United States that led to the Doha Agreement.
Since the Taliban’s
return to power in 2021, regional and global actors — including China — have
increased diplomatic engagement with Kabul, focusing on stability,
counterterrorism, and economic cooperation.
