The Kabul Tribune (KT) — The Taliban-run Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation said 307 Afghan prisoners were released from jails in Pakistan and returned to Afghanistan over the past week.

In a statement issued Thursday, the ministry said the individuals had been detained in Pakistan due to a lack of legal documents. Following their release, they returned to Afghanistan through the Chaman–Spin Boldak and Torkham crossings along the Durand Line, where they also received initial assistance.

According to the ministry, 561 Afghan prisoners were also released from Pakistan jails and repatriated during the previous week.

In recent months, Pakistan has intensified actions against undocumented foreign nationals, leading to the detention and deportation of many Afghans.

Taliban authorities say they are working to coordinate with neighboring countries to address the challenges faced by Afghan migrants and to provide necessary support for returnees.
