The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Thousands of people across Afghanistan gathered on Wednesday, the first day of Eid al-Adha, to perform Eid prayers in mosques, open grounds, and designated prayer sites in Kabul and other provinces.
In Kabul, large crowds assembled at major locations including Eidgah Mosque and Hazuri Chaman, where worshippers gathered early in the morning to take part in the prayers. Similar scenes were reported in provinces such as Herat, Kandahar, Balkh, and Nangarhar, where residents also attended Eid prayers in large numbers.
Religious scholars, delivering sermons during the prayers, emphasized unity, brotherhood, peace, and respect for one another’s rights. They also urged people to use the occasion to support those in need and show compassion during the holiday.
The Taliban said special security measures were implemented across Kabul and other provinces for the Eid celebrations, with additional forces deployed at key locations, including mosques and public spaces, to ensure public safety.
According to Taliban security authorities, a dedicated security plan was put in place for the Eid holidays, allowing citizens to celebrate in a safe and peaceful environment. They added that checkpoints were increased in major cities, and patrol units remained active.
Eid al-Adha is observed annually in Afghanistan with religious rituals, family gatherings, and festive celebrations across the country.
