The Kabul Tribune (KT) — United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs warned that a widening funding gap is threatening life-saving humanitarian assistance in Afghanistan.
In a statement posted on X, OCHA said that as of the end of
May 2026, only about 16% — or $269 million — of the $1.71 billion required for
this year’s humanitarian response has been received.
The agency cautioned that without immediate financial
support, millions of people across the country could be left without essential
aid.
Afghanistan remains one of the world’s most severe
humanitarian crises, with millions relying on international assistance for
basic needs, including food, health care and shelter.
