The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi said the group continues to maintain engagement with the international community despite limited recognition from some countries.

Speaking at a religious seminary, Muttaqi said that after nearly two decades of conflict with around 50 countries, it is unrealistic to expect all of them to now fully cooperate or maintain positive relations with the Taliban.

He said the Taliban’s foreign relations have expanded, adding that Afghanistan currently maintains active diplomatic missions in nearly all countries in the region, with only one exception.

“Despite fighting for about 20 years with nearly 50 countries, we should not expect those same countries to now treat us favorably,” he said. “However, only one country in the region remains where we do not have an active diplomatic presence.”

Muttaqi also emphasized the importance of education, saying Afghanistan’s development depends on a combination of religious and modern sciences.

He urged students to stay informed about regional and global developments and to prepare for future challenges.

“If we build a knowledgeable society with proper education, no force will be able to dominate us,” he said. “Alongside religious studies, we must strengthen ourselves in modern sciences to succeed in political and other fields.”

The Taliban foreign minister also cited security, national unity, management of returning refugees and improvements in the economic situation as key achievements of the Taliban administration.

He said security has been ensured across Afghanistan and claimed that no opposition group currently controls any part of the country.
