The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Six Afghan migrants were killed and three others injured in a traffic accident in Iran, according to Iranian media reports.
The incident occurred Thursday evening, June 4, 2026, on the Eyvanaki–Sharifabad highway in Semnan province, where a Peugeot 405 collided with a truck, reports said.
Rescue officials said emergency teams were dispatched to the scene shortly after the incident and began response operations. The injured were transferred to nearby medical centers for treatment.
The head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society in Semnan province confirmed that the victims were Afghan nationals.
Iranian authorities said the exact cause of the accident remains unclear, and investigations are ongoing.
Each year, hundreds of Afghan migrants lose their lives in Iran due to traffic accidents, workplace incidents or during travel between cities. Experts attribute the high rate of road accidents to heavy traffic, excessive speed and the poor condition of some vehicles.
Semnan province lies along a major route connecting Tehran and Mashhad and is considered one of the country’s busiest transport corridors.
