The Kabul Tribune (KT) — One person was killed and two others were injured in a fire incident in eastern Afghanistan’s Khost province, Taliban police said.

The provincial police command said the incident occurred on Tuesday morning at around 5:30 a.m. in the Lakani Bazaar area of Khost city.

Authorities said the fire was triggered by a gas cylinder explosion, causing an estimated 150,000 Afghanis in material damage.

The fire was brought under control by firefighting teams, preventing further damage and avoiding additional casualties and property loss estimated at around one million Afghanis, according to officials.

The incident comes a day after a separate fire in southern Helmand province, which caused an estimated 43 million Afghanis in damages. Officials said such incidents are often caused by negligence and technical failures.
