The Kabul Tribune (KT) — The Taliban’s foreign minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi, held a phone conversation with Rosemary DiCarlo, the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, to discuss humanitarian assistance and UN activities in Afghanistan.

According to a statement issued Thursday by the Taliban’s Foreign Ministry, the two sides discussed the delivery of humanitarian aid to vulnerable Afghans and ways to improve the effectiveness of assistance efforts.

The statement said DiCarlo expressed appreciation for the facilitation and cooperation provided by the Taliban for humanitarian operations, describing it as important for ensuring timely and effective aid delivery.

She also shared updates on recent developments related to the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan and outlined ongoing UN efforts in the country.

The statement added that both sides emphasized the importance of mutual understanding, constructive engagement, and continued cooperation.

Humanitarian needs in Afghanistan remain significant, with millions of people facing economic hardship and requiring assistance.

The United Nations and other international organizations continue to work with the Taliban to deliver aid, although the process still faces multiple challenges.
