The Kabul Tribune (KT) — The Taliban’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has rejected reports claiming that a budget has been allocated to impose a ban on smartphone use, calling the claims baseless.

In a statement, the ministry said reports circulating in some media outlets and social networks regarding restrictions on smartphones and related funding allocations were false and unfounded.

The ministry said information attributed to a person named Abdul Ahad Fazli was inaccurate, adding that no official remarks had been made by the minister and no statement had been issued through official channels.

It emphasized that all news and information related to the ministry should only be obtained from official sources and urged media outlets not to publish rumors or unverified reports.

The ministry also called on journalists and the public to exercise caution when sharing information and to rely only on verified official sources to prevent the spread of misinformation.
