The Kabul Tribune (KT) — The Taliban Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation said 344 Afghan prisoners were released from prisons in Pakistan and returned to Afghanistan during the past week.

In a statement, the ministry said the individuals had been detained for lacking legal residency documents in Pakistan.

According to the statement, the released prisoners returned to Afghanistan through the Chaman–Spin Boldak and Torkham border crossings along the Durand Line.

The ministry said the returnees received initial assistance upon arrival before being transported to their home areas.

The Taliban Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation added that the return of Afghan migrants and prisoners from Pakistan remains ongoing.

The announcement comes a week after 485 Afghan prisoners were released from Pakistani jails and returned to Afghanistan, according to Taliban officials.
