The Kabul Tribune (KT) — The Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan says it has sent a team of specialist doctors to Afghanistan to provide advanced medical and surgical services in several healthcare facilities across the country.

In a statement released on June 25, 2026, the ministry said experienced Kazakh medical professionals have begun working in Afghan hospitals and have already started treating patients.

According to the statement, members of the delegation are performing a range of specialized surgical operations on a daily basis while also delivering essential medical and therapeutic services to patients.

The medical team includes specialists in orthopedics, trauma surgery, cardiology, pediatrics, general surgery, urology, pulmonary diseases, and epidemiology.

Kazakh officials said the purpose of the mission is to strengthen healthcare services in Afghanistan and to share medical expertise with Afghan health workers, contributing to capacity building in the sector.

They added that Kazakhstan has expanded humanitarian cooperation with Afghanistan in recent years, including assistance in food security, humanitarian relief, education, and economic support. The deployment of specialist doctors is part of these broader efforts, they said.
