The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Two people were killed and four others injured in a traffic accident in Afghanistan's northern Balkh province on June 27, 2026, Taliban police said.
According to a statement from the Taliban police command in Balkh, the accident occurred in Sholgara district when a vehicle struck a girl before the driver lost control and the vehicle overturned.
The statement said the girl died at the scene, while one of the vehicle's passengers was also killed. Four other occupants sustained injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment.
The Taliban police did not specify the cause of the accident but said an investigation is underway.
Traffic accidents remain common across Afghanistan, largely due to poor road conditions, reckless driving, failure to observe traffic regulations and mechanical problems with vehicles. Hundreds of people are killed or injured in such incidents each year.
