The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Pakistan's military said Tuesday it intercepted and shot down four drones that it said crossed into Balochistan from Afghanistan, while the Taliban claimed they carried out airstrikes against alleged militant targets inside Pakistan.
In a statement, Pakistan's military media wing, the
Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said the drones were detected by the
country's air defense system and neutralized before they could cause damage.
It alleged that the
drones had been launched from Afghanistan.
Separately, the Taliban's Ministry of Defense said its air
force carried out strikes on what it described as Islamic State (ISIS) and
other militant positions in Pakistan's Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
provinces.
The ministry claimed the targeted sites had been used to
plan attacks inside Afghanistan and said the strikes caused heavy casualties
among militants while avoiding civilian harm.
Neither side's claims could be independently verified.
