The Kabul Tribune (KT) — UN Women has said that millions of women and girls around the world still cannot be certain that their rights will be respected and protected.
In a post on X on Friday, July 24, 2026, the U.N. agency
stressed that people's rights should not depend on who they are, where they
live, or whether anyone listens to their voices.
UN Women said the rights of all women and girls must be
guaranteed and called on people to stand up in support of that principle.
The statement comes as women and girls in Afghanistan
continue to face sweeping restrictions imposed by the Taliban since their
return to power. The restrictions have affected access to education,
employment, freedom of movement, and participation in public life.
The United Nations and human rights organizations have
repeatedly warned that the Taliban's policies have severely violated the
fundamental rights of Afghan women and girls.
