The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Uzbekistan is ready to import 100,000 metric tons of cotton from Afghanistan as part of efforts to expand bilateral agricultural trade and investment, Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev said during a visit to Kabul.

According to Uzbek officials, Khodjaev made the announcement during a meeting with Ahmad Jan Bilal, head of the Taliban's State-Owned Enterprises Authority, on Monday, July 27, 2026.

Khodjaev also said Uzbekistan is prepared to cooperate with Afghanistan in the supply of improved agricultural seeds and chemical fertilizers to help boost agricultural production.

He added that a team from the visiting Uzbek delegation will remain in Kabul to hold talks with Afghan officials and business representatives on increasing exports of fresh Afghan fruit to Uzbekistan.
