The Kabul Tribune (KT) — A total of 880 Afghan prisoners have been released from Pakistani prisons and returned to Afghanistan over the past week, the Taliban's Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation said.
In its weekly report released on Thursday, the ministry said
the individuals had been detained in Pakistan for various reasons before being
released.
According to the ministry, the former detainees re-entered
Afghanistan through the Chaman–Spin Boldak and Torkham border crossings along
the disputed Durand Line.
The ministry said the returnees received humanitarian
assistance upon arrival before being transported to their home areas.
The latest releases follow the return of 1,099 Afghan
prisoners from Pakistani jails during the previous week, according to the
ministry.
