The Kabul Tribune (KT) — The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment (ACCI) said it provided 7.585 million Afghanis in cash assistance to families affected by recent floods in Nuristan province.

According to the chamber, the assistance was distributed to flood-affected families Monday, Aug. 3, 2026, during a visit to Nuristan by Taliban Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Abdul Ghani Baradar. ACCI Chairman Sayed Karim Hashemi also accompanied the delegation.

Hashemi expressed sympathy with the affected families over their losses and said the chamber was ready to support and assist them under any circumstances, according to the ACCI.

Nuristan has been among the Afghan provinces repeatedly affected by heavy rains and flooding in recent years. Floods have damaged homes, agricultural land and public infrastructure and affected the lives and livelihoods of residents.
