The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said Thursday that four civilians were killed in Pakistani airstrikes on areas of Afghanistan’s Kandahar, Paktia and Khost provinces.
Mujahid described the strikes as “brutal aggression” and said the Taliban would take a “firm position” against Pakistan’s military actions and provide an “appropriate response.”
He also described the strikes as “blind and cowardly,” saying they violated established principles and amounted to what he called “aggression and a crime.” He warned that such actions could provoke anger among Afghans and have “adverse consequences” for Pakistani military personnel.
Mujahid rejected Pakistan’s claim that eight drones had flown from Afghanistan toward Pakistan, calling the claim a “rumor” and accusing Pakistani military circles of using it to justify the airstrikes.
Pakistan’s military, however, said it had shot down eight drones that it said had flown from Afghanistan toward Pakistan.
Pakistan’s Ministry of Information also said that the country’s military had targeted 10 locations in Afghanistan in airstrikes.
The claims from the two sides could not be independently verified.
