The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tileuberdi said Afghanistan’s long-term stability is closely linked to the security and sustainable development of Central Asia, calling for a coordinated and gradual approach to engagement with the country.

Addressing the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, Tileuberdi said humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan remains essential but cannot by itself break the cycle of poverty, displacement and dependency.

He said Kazakhstan supports pragmatic, coordinated and step-by-step engagement with Afghanistan in coordination with the United Nations.

Tileuberdi’s remarks come as regional and international officials continue to discuss Afghanistan’s humanitarian needs, long-term stability and its relationship with neighboring countries and the wider international community.
