The Kabul Tribune (KT) — The Central Chairman of the National Democratic Movement, Mohsin Dawar said that the Taliban figure being promoted as a potential replacement for the group’s supreme leader, Hibatullah Akhundzada, is in fact the one controlling the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Hafiz Gul Bahadur (HGB) factions.

Speaking at the Aman Jirga (Peace Assembly) on Tuesday, Dawar warned that replacing one Taliban leader with another linked to militant groups would not bring peace or stability. “The Talib who is being presented as a poster boy and replacement for Hibatullah with claims that the situation will improve if he takes over is the one who controls TTP and HGB groups of Taliban. Pakhtunkhwa has to demand an end to these strategic games,” he said.

Dawar claimed that the ongoing militancy and state-backed “strategic games” have left Pashtuns suffering for decades, urging leaders in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to unite and demand a clear policy for peace and security.
