The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Tajikistan’s Foreign Ministry says three Chinese nationals were killed in an armed attack launched from the Afghan side of the border in Khatlon province.

The ministry said in a statement on Thursday, Dec. 6, that the attack occurred late Wednesday on a camp belonging to employees of the private company Shahin SM at a border point in Khatlon.

According to the statement, the attackers used a drone equipped with grenades as well as automatic weapons, killing three Chinese staff members.

Tajikistan expressed concern over continued insecurity along the frontier, saying that despite its ongoing efforts to maintain stability on the shared border, “disruptive actions by criminal groups operating inside Afghanistan” persist.

The Foreign Ministry condemned the attack “in the strongest terms” and called on the Taliban to take “effective and immediate measures” to ensure border security and stability
